Mashable's Complete Guide to Video Blogging

Last  month Mashable published an article, The Complete Guide to Video Blogging by Leah Betancourt which pointed out that while video blogging is not new, it may not be as easy to get started if you don't know what you're doing. The guide attempts to break things down and explores the concepts and tools for creating online video content. There are a number of videos examples and quotes from video bloggers that help reinforce the key messages.

Key concepts for Video Blogging are:
  1. Video Blogging is Still in its Infancy (but there's no signs that the growth will be slowing)
  2. Web Video Puts People on Equal Footing (as opposed to the top-down traditional broadcast TV or subscription model the web creates a direct and interactive channel to reach your audience and transform them into a community through social media)
  3. What Makes a Good Video Blog (the most important points are to have something interesting to say to a niche audience in the most genuine and interesting way with good video production values)
  4. Creating a Video Blog (use the tools available to you but make sure you pay attention to the audio and not just the video)
  5. Distribute a Video Blog (use social sites like YouTube, Blip, Facebook, Vimeo to post your videos to paste the embed codes on your blog and distribute your videos wherever your audience is)
